Coming Soon -- 24-hour Child Care Center
To answer area industries' demand for 24-hour child care, GCITC diligently sought and received a $180,000 grant to build a non-profit 24-hour child care facility to serve area industries (and the public). The facility is scheduled to be operating by Fall 08. There are several stipulations of the grant, but the main one is that at least 51% of the families we serve must be considered low income. The grant will not cover the cost of the building, but it is a great help. Several industries have donated thousands of dollars to get the facility up and running. Our corporate members and the industries that donate the most will get first preference for use of the facility. Council members will get next preference, etc. The childcare center will be located behind the training center (view proposed drawings). Unique to our facility will be the fact that not only will we have certified instructors, but we will have additional childcare workers as support staff because it will be a training facility for our CDA educational program; thus, we will often have a higher adult/child ratio than other child care centers.
